Doncaster Rovers Belles missed the chance to cement their place atop FAWSL 2 after conceding two goals in the last three minutes against Everton.

The Belles were 3-1 up on 87 minutes only for the clash at the Keepmoat to finish 3-3 thanks to Everton’s late double.

Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah’s late leveller earned fourth-place Everton a point with the title-chasing Belles.

The game started with a cagey 20 minutes in which Everton created the better of the chances, but the Belles soaked up the Toffees’ pressure and soon gained control of the match.

The home side then opened the scoring on 23 minutes when Kasia Lipka collected a loose ball in the centre before driving into some space and picking out the top left corner with a stunning 35-yard strike.

Belles doubled their advantage nine minutes later. An intricate team move resulted in Courtney Sweetman-Kirk charging through one-on-one with Everton keeper Kirstie Levell before converting at the second attempt, after her first shot was saved.

Everton strengthened their defence for the second half and initially quelled anything Doncaster threw at them.

Then on 76 minutes they seemed to find a way back into the tie, as the ever-dangerous Boye-Hlorkah headed a corner in from virtually on the goal-line.

The home side regained their two-goal cushion just two minutes later as Sweetman-Kirk drove past Everton substitute Vicky Jones, before cutting into the box and smashing home.

However a last gasp push from the visitors snatched a point as first Ellie Stewart’s dipping long-range effort found the back of the net in the 87th minute, before Boye-Hlorkah flicked home following a goalmouth scramble three minutes later.

After drawing their last two games, the Belles will hope to take a step closer to the title when they visit struggling London Bees in 16 days.
