It was a battle between two of the newly formed teams in Sheffield & Hallam County Women’s League Division Two on Sunday when Swinton Athletic hosted Mexborough Athletic.
Tasha Carlton put Mexborough ahead after two minutes with a fine effort from outside the box, and the game was over as a contest by the midway point in the first half.
After Leanne Carter netted to make it 2-0, Steph Simpson bagged a hat trick.
Carter’s second then made it 6-0 at the break.
Abbie Clemitshaw had an eventful game: first, she came off very early in the first half after feeling a strain.
With rolling substitutes permitted, she then returned at the start of the second half, making the score 7-0 within 30 seconds of the restart.
Clearly still suffering the after effects of her early injury, she came off again and later took over from her sister Holly in goal.
Both Carter and Simpson increased their tally by one in the second half and Leanne Cantrell, younger sister of former Doncaster Rovers belles, Leeds and Lincoln striker Carla, completed an 11-0 win with the game’s final two goals.
Meanwhile, Rotherham United Ladies find themselves in midtable following a 7-2 defeat to league leaders Leicester City Women.
The Millers have recorded three successive losses in the Midland Women’s Combination League Main since their previous fixture with Leicester Women in September - where they won 2-1.
The home clash in Rawmarsh saw Rotherham go into the break 3-1 down with Leicester killing off the game in the second half. Rotherham’s strikes came from Amy Pollock and a City own goal.
The Millers next face Leicester City Ladies on Sunday, at Roundwood Sports Club in Rawmarsh, 2pm.
