Ellor stars as Denaby knock out Cup holders

STEVEN Ellor was Denaby United’s hat-trick hero as they beat Doncaster Senior League Premier Division KO Cup holders Hemsworth Town 5-2 in their first round tie.

Jack Hakin and James Lundy completed the scoring with Joshua Stones replying twice for the holders.

Rossington Main posted a 4-2 victory at Carcroft Village, James Batchelor (2), Neil Fraser and Scott Spencer being their marksmen. Simon Squire and Steven Cunningham replied for Village. Premier Division champions just two seasons ago, Mexborough Town forfeited their tie with Kinsley Boys and have resigned from the League.

Tom Salt took his tally to 17 from six matches with a six-goal spree for Bramley Sunnyside in their 9-0 win Premier Division win over over South Kirkby Colliery.

Villa dropped their first points of the campaign when they were held 1-1 at home by South Elmsall United Services. Adam Fretwell was on target for Villa with Paul Smith putting Services on terms.

Denaby Main recorded a 4-0 home success over Bawtry Town Reserves in their Division One KO Cup tie. Martin O’Neill, Brendan Adcock, Dylan Phillips and Ainsley Finney all found the net.

A brace of goals from Carl Grant helped Dunscroft United account for FC Central 4-1. Ryan Atkinson and Richard Sands doubled their tally with Jacob Birkby pulling a goal back.

Torran Adams notched a hat trick as Scawthorpe Scorpions defeated Newton Arms 4-2. Adam Harrison also got in on the act. Two goals apiece from Paul Cooper and John Whitehead put Hemsworth MW on the way to a 7-1 victory over ISG Doncaster (Grzegorz Szczerba). South Kirkby Town had an 8-1 win over Harworth Colliery. Craig Hobson and Ben Bailey both scored twice.

Rovers Foundation claimed a 6-1 Division One win at Westwoodside Rangers courtesy of goals by James Bytheway (2), Shane Carver, Gavin Wiley, Kieran Higgins and Nathan Wroe. Declan Bacon pulled a goal back for Rangers.
