Moore confirmed Buxton forward Kyle Campbell – son of former Arsenal striker Kevin – has spent time on trial with the club while Tadcaster Albion’s Donald Chimalilo made a goalscoring appearance for Rovers U23s on Tuesday.

The Rovers boss said there is typically a plethora of young players available for trial at this time of year with January approaching.

And a run of blank midweeks for the club presents the perfect opportunity to assess trialists.

“We get in all sorts of players,” Moore said.

“It’s the time of the year when there’s a lot of players knocking around.

“We get recommended loads of players but there’s only certain ones that we want to take a look at. It’s generally position-specific.

“We’ve had a couple in and we’ll have a couple in next week as well.

“When you’ve only got a one game week and a full week on the training ground it’s good to have a look at them. If there’s a games programme it’s a waste of time bringing them in.

“We never neglect any of the locals or our boys here but when one’s come up that we feel is of value for us at the club in that group then we’ll have a look because it’d be silly not to.

“We feel there are plenty of young players out there looking for an opportunity.

“There are opportunities here, but only for the right ones.”
