Things can only get better at Doncaster Rovers under Darren Ferguson.
That’s the verdict of on-loan Ipswich Town winger Cameron Stewart.
Stewart has started both games under Ferguson, and hopes to retain his place at Millwall tonight as Rovers aim to bounce back from their pummelling at Peterborough.
“He’s been quite firm with us,” said Stewart. “He doesn’t beat around the bush, he tells us what he wants and how he wants things to be done.
“The boys have tried to do just that. Obviously Saturday didn’t go so well, but overall we can see what he wants to do and everyone likes what he’s trying to do.
“I think the club as a whole, never mind the team, can only get better under the new manager.
“Even though at the moment I’m here till January I’m really looking forward to working under him.”
Stewart is open to the idea of extending his loan but says the priority for him is helping Rovers climb the table.
“I’m enjoying myself but the priority is performing individually and as a team,” he said.
“A club the size of this shouldn’t be in the relegation zone like we are now.
“The focus now isn’t really on whether I’m staying, it’s about people pulling together, getting some points on the board and pushing back up the table.”
He added: “The manner of how we lost on Saturday will give the boys a big lift in a way, to go out there and show that that’s not us.”
