Thorsten Stuckmann has described Rob Jones as “the perfect man” to fill the void left by Paul Dickov’s departure.

Stand-in boss Jones addressed Doncaster’s players for the first time on Thursday morning in build-up to his first game in temporary charge today at Walsall.

And he clearly made an instant impression on the German goalkeeper, who revealed how Rovers’ squad were told in no uncertain terms about what Jones expects of them on and off the pitch.

“I think Rob Jones is the perfect man now for us,” said Stuckmann.

“I’ve only known him for a few weeks but he has this measure of authority.

“He has got a clear thing in his mind about how he wants to play football and how he wants the club running.

“He made this very clear to us [in a meeting on Thursday morning].

“He has got the respect and confidence of the dressing room.

“Everyone will back him because everyone liked him as a player and now everyone will respect him as the manager.

“Everyone will be behind him.

“It’s down to all of us to support him as much as we can.”

He added: “It’s never nice [when a manager goes] and I think we have to question ourselves why it’s happened.

“We probably haven’t produced as many wins as everyone in the football club would’ve liked.

“That is the business and, as bad as it is, we just have to look forward to the game at Walsall and turn a corner.

“There’s no excuses.

“We had a good meeting with the gaffer and he told us exactly how he wants us to play, what he expects in the dressing room and what expects on and off the field.”
