5. Reece James 8
Often one of the most advanced players in the side in the first half, he punished Portsmouth with the game’s opening goal. Picking up space off the full back he collected Bostock’s pass and finished superbly. Harness gave him plenty to think about but he was strong. And then there was the last gasp block at the end that was as good as a goal. Photo: AHPIX Ltd
6. Matt Smith 8
Excellent in the middle of the park, he moved the ball really well. He was very combative, pressed hard and unsettled the opposition. A bundle of energy from start to finish. Photo: AHPIX Ltd
7. John Bostock 9
There were times when the midfielder looked a level above, such was the quality of his passing play. He dictated possession superbly, put others on the front foot and also harried the opposition in the middle of the park. His pass into James for the first goal was wonderful. Tired in the second half. Photo: AHPIX Ltd
8. Jon Taylor 6
Suffered an unfortunate injury after being blocked out at the end of a brilliant run. Had made a number of strong runs prior to that and seemed rejuvenated. Photo: AHPIX Ltd
