Doncaster Rovers: Darren Ferguson explains why he might change a winning team at Leyton Orient

The Scot was disappointed in Rovers’ ‘tired’ performance in the goalless draw at Crawley Town earlier this month - which followed a midweek game at Cambridge.

Following another midweek game this week, Ferguson is mindful of avoiding a repeat at League Two bottom side Orient.

“I felt I could probably get away with keeping with the same team [against Notts County] because I feel the Tuesday is not as bad as the Saturday coming,” said Ferguson.

“Obviously I’ll look at things but that might be the game where I may freshen things up, not for any other reason than the fact the last time we played three games in a week I felt there was a real tiredness at Crawley.

“But we’ll wait and see.

“That’s one of the reasons the players were in on Wednesday to get some recovery into them.”

Gary McSheffrey, Andy Williams (pictured) and Mitchell Lund, who all impressed from the bench against Notts County on Tuesday night, could all come into contention at the Matchroom Stadium.

Meanwhile, Ferguson says Rovers have silenced a few doubters after winning one game out of six in February.

“There were a lot of doubters saying we’ve drawn too many games but I always felt it was human nature that we couldn’t keep winning games,” he said.

“Now all of a sudden we’re one of the form teams in the league again having won three and drawn one.”
