Doncaster Rovers Belles are relishing the prospect of getting their teeth into reigning Womens Super League champions Liverpool according to boss Glen Harris.
Belles sit top of the second tier after 11 games in their bid for promotion, and Harris thinks tonight’s clash in the Continental Tyres Cup at the Keepmoat will give an indication of how good his side in are in comparison to top tier teams.
“It will be another tough test against the current WSL 1 champions,” said Harris in his programme notes.
“Having watched Liverpool many times they are a quality team who like to play possession based football and have some real quality players in their team.
“So once again this should be a good test of where we are as a team in relation to WSL1.
“The players and staff look forward to these occasions and the aim must be to take the intensity from playing against WSL1 opposition into our league campaign.”
Harris’ side have had extra preperation time ahead of the Merseysiders’ visit as their clash with Everton last weekend was postponed.
The two sides met in the competition last season, with Liverpool taking an early 3-0 lead, before Belles fought back to 3-2. However, they were unable to force an equaliser.
Tonight’s clash kicks off at 7.45pm and tickets cost £5 for adults and £1 for concessions.
