John Buckley has left Doncaster Rovers Belles by “mutual consent”, the club have confirmed.

The Scotsman, who has been at the helm of the Belles for a decade, parted company hours after the club played their final game in the top flight following a 22-year reign.

The Belles, who announced in August of the new investment partnership with BPP University, have appointed former boss Julie Chipchase as director of football and will be searching for a new manager.

The club said in a statement yesterday: “The club have performed a full review, and have established a new pyramid structure based upon the Barcelona model.

“As part of this new structure, Julie Chipchase has been appointed as Director of Football.

“The club will be reviewing applicants for the position of First Team Coach as part of the new structure.

“The club would like to thank John for his decade of service to the club, and wish him the best for the future.”

It has been a turbulent season for the Doncaster outfit following their FA ‘relegation’ after just one league match.

Yesterday a 3-0 defeat to Birmingham at the Keepmoat Stadium saw Belles finish the 2013 season rock bottom with six points from 14 games.
