Dean Daffin at double as Scawthorpe & Bentley Rhinos charge to Cup glory

A DEAN Daffin brace helped secure Scawthorpe & Bentley Rhinos a 4-0 Doncaster Senior League Division One KO Cup win over Highwayman in the final at Brodsworth.

Daniel Porteous and Daniel Ferguson also chipped in with goals for the winners.

Bawtry Town had to settle for a consolation goal by Harrison Read when crashing to a 6-1 Premier Division defeat at home to Hemsworth for whom Paul Green, Wayne Harratt, Luke Heptinstall, Michael Horbury, Andrew Lowe and Nitesh Patel netted.

High-flying Sutton Rovers beat local rivals Brodsworth Welfare by the odd goal in three. Leon Tarry and Tom Doherty netted for the winners with Michael Sowerby replying for the home side.

Goals by Brett Oxer, Phillip Whitehead and Josh Critchley laid the foundations for AFC Sportsman Rovers’ 3-0 win at Carcroft Village.

Denaby United posted the biggest win of the day, a 15-0 rout of Division One visitors Bawtry Town Reserves.

Steve Ellor led the way with a nine-goal haul, the biggest personal tally of the season, with Ainsley Finney, Enzo Guarinni both bagging a brace. Jason Astphall and Ryan Oakley completeted the rout.

Hemsworth MW dished out a 5-0 drubbing to Woodlands Rhinos. Steve Brown led the way with a brace with Paul Cooper, John Whitehead and Kevin Taylor also chipping in with goals.
