Manchester United midfielder Ben Pearson has signed a loan extension with the club until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old has impressed in two initial one-month loan spells at Oakwell, making 12 appearances for the Reds.
And new boss Lee Johnson was hungry to keep Pearson at the club with a play-off push now on the cards in what promises to be an enthralling finish to the season.
Pearson made his debut for the Reds back in January in a 2-0 home win over Yeovil Town and has quickly won the admiration of many Barnsley supporters.
He scored his first – and only Reds’ goal – in a 2-1 win over Port Vale two games later and has been a key player in the club’s impressive current run of five successive victories.
Pearson is one of six loan players at Oakwell with Peter Ramage, George Waring, John O’Sullivan, Jabo Ibehre and Declan John.
