DONCASTER Knights’ director of rugby, Brett Davey, has added former Bristol scrum-half Louis Silver to his summer recruits to compete with skipper Chris Hallam for the No 9 shirt next season.
The 21-year-old joined Bristol from Worcester Warriors, for whom he made his full first team debut in a 23-22 defeat by Gloucester in May 2010, last season.
The half-back made three appearances for Worcester during the 2010/11 season before being loaned out to Moseley.
He went on to make seven appearances for the Birmingham side during the last campaign, including three starts, but again found his chances limited and he enjoyed spells on loan with both Dings Crusaders and Luctonians.
“I’m looking forward to joining Doncaster; they play a good brand of rugby which suits me,” he said after signing.
“Brett holds good visions for the future and t is an opportunity to play regular rugby in a good side.
“I intend to push Chris hard for a starting spot. He is one of the form nines in the Championship, but if I can play my best I will hopefully give him a run for the jersey. We are focused on gaining a play-off position come the end of the season so hopefully I can contribute to that.”
