CARL Hall has revealed one of the secrets to the Dons’ outstanding form this season - a bit of karaoke!
Doncaster’s players have been singing from the same hymn sheet on the pitch this season and they are now within touching distance of a return to the Co-operative Championship.
And that team spirit and togetherness, which Hall says is the best he has ever experienced in the game, is very evident off the pitch too.
Hall said: “The boys are all in it together.
“They all have a sing song on the bus when we go away.
“Every player has to get up and sing a song and it doesn’t matter if they can sing or not.
“It includes Tony [Miller] and the coaching staff - they have to get up and sing too.
“Everyone understands we’re all in this together.
“It’s fantastic, and to be fair this is how it’s been for the past three years. It’s not just happened overnight.”
Hall waxed lyrical about the togetherness in the squad in an extended interview with the Free Press last week - which you can now listen to in full at our website (Sport Matters podcast).
“We try and make things as much fun as we can and at the moment things are going good,” said Hall.
“I’ve never known a team spirit like it.
“It goes a long way to helping you win, especially when you don’t pay a great deal of money.
“And these fellas are just so professional too.
“When we stayed overnight in Wales the other week they were in the bar with their waters and cokes watching the tennis and they were all up to their rooms at 10pm.
“Usually you’d get someone trying to pop out.
“But we’ve got a great set of lads and over the next couple of months I’ll be trying to get them to commit their futures to the club for another season.
“If we go up we’ll have to add a few more quality players but the squad we have currently gives us a fantastic foundation.”
