The result sees Outcasts drop further off the coattails of Division One leaders Goole Town.

In contrast, the game was a personal triumph for Whitley teenager Sam Lodge who hit a magnificent 91 not out for the Yorkshire club.

Things began badly for Crowle as they quickly found themselves two wickets down without a run on the board.

By the end of the ninth over they had slumped to 38-6 and were staring at an embarrassing score before Deol Singh and skipper Anthony Fitzgerald put together a partnership of 72 runs.

Singh was in great form reaching an excellent half century before being bowled in the 19th over after which they went on to post a total of 119-9 which was never likely to be enough on the small Whitley Bridge ground.

Teenagers Sam Lodge and George Wright opened the innings for Whitley and they set off sedately without looking in any trouble.

Wright cleverly nudged the ball around to give Lodge the strike who quickly went through the gears and began to put the Outcasts bowling to the sword.

He brought up his half century then really put his foot to the floor with an array of fantastic shots.

The total had reached 90 when Wright was caught in the deep by Conor Webb off Anthony Fitzgerald, the first wicket Outcasts had managed in two visits to the ground, but it was Lodge’s day as he ended the innings not out on 91 with Lewis Longstaff adding 15.
