Young girl in Wath road collision

A young girl pedestrian escaped serious injury in a traffic incident at Wath.

It is believed that the 11-year old girl from West Melton stepped out in front of a red Renault Megane being driven by a 59-year-old man from Brampton Brierlow along Barnsley Road, directly outside the Jet Petrol Station in the direction of Barnsley.

The girl was in collision with the car and rose up on to its windscreen before falling back down to the road.

She was taken to Sheffield Childrens Hospital and later discharged after she was found to have no severe injury.

The collision took place at about 5.20pm on June 6, and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
