The founder of a charity which helps prisoners with hidden disabilities has been featured on ITV’s Surprise Surprise programme.
Jackie Hewitt-Main, founder and CEO of The Cascade Foundation, featured on the show earlier this month with Richard Branson praising her amazing work.
Since the charity’s inception just over two years ago Wroot mum-of-two Jackie has helped hundreds of HMP Doncaster inmates suffering with disabilities such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and people who have suffered head injuries.
Jackie said: “It was a complete shock. It was my son who nominated me. “Since the show was aired we have had over 2,000 volunteers coming through our website offering their help with the charity. It’s overwhelming.”
A prison spokesman said that Jackie’s work has led to a dramatic reduction in assault rates across the whole prison to a fifth of the figures before.
