An appeal for ‘reindeer timber’ has been launched by students at a Doncaster College - with Christmas in mind.

The urgent plea for felled timber is to allow a group from Communication Specialist College Doncaster’s carpentry course to make festive reindeer decorations.

Chris Monk, tutor at the college that is part of Doncaster Deaf Trust said: “Last year our students tried their hand at making Christmas Reindeer from donated timber and were able to create fantastic decorations which were snapped up by staff, families and friends.

“These reindeer proved so popular that we had a waiting list. We’ve already had people contacting us to see if we are doing them again and we’d love to but we need timber.”

He continued: “We are hoping that someone will hear our plea and donate recently felled timber to us so that we can make the reindeer again this year.”

Anyone wishing to donate some timber can contact Chris on 01302 386700.
