Wombwell engineers fight back against recession

WOMBWELL based Billington Holdings are set to “weather the storm” in the face of challenging market conditions.

The structural steel and engineering company recorded overall profit for last year of £800,000, compared to £1.6 million in 2009. The year cash end balance was down from £8.5m to £4.9m.

The slump is in spite of the fact that Billington gained a clutch of major contracts last year, and now claims to be in “good shape” for 2011.

Most recently, the company has been contracted to work on a major council and NHS “hub” being built in Nottingham.

For this, it will supply over 300 tonnes of steel for framework and decking.

Billington intends to focus on its structural steel and building safety systems to try to recover its former position in the market.
