Woman ‘raped’ in town centre

A WOMAN was allegedly raped in a busy part of the town centre.

The late night attack was said to have happened at the back of a row of businesses running along Thorne Road and near to Park Road.

It is understood the alleged victim also knew the man who reportedly attacked her.

Details have only just been released to the Free Press, despite the attack taking place on Saturday, October 8.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said officers were continuing to investigate the incident.

The spokesman also confirmed that no arrests had been made at the time of going to press.

The alleged rape happened between 11.30pm and midnight.
