Woman cut free from overturned vehicle

AN ELDERLY woman had to be cut free from her vehicle after it ended up on its roof on a busy road in Rawmarsh.

The 79-year-old was behind the wheel of a silver Vauxhall Corsa which failed to negotiate the roundabout on Warren Vale on Tuesday at about 3.40pm.

Police said the car collided with the roundabout, sending it into the air and landing on its roof in a hedgerow bordering the road.

The woman, from Moorgate in Rotherham, had to be cut free from the vehicle by two fire crews who attended from Rotherham Station.

She sustained minor injuried and was conscious throughout the ordeal.

A fire service spokesman said she was taken to hospital by helicopter for treatment.
