motorists faced massive disruption this morning after an articulated lorry crossed the central barrier of the M18 in rush hour traffic.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the green Leyland Daf vehicle travelling on the southbound carriageway at 8.15am left the motorway to the nearside onto the hard shoulder colliding with a barrier approximately a mile south of junction 2 for the A1M.
The lorry then rebounded across the southbound carriageway, colliding with the central barrier and crossing over into the outside lane of the northbound carriageway, travelling about 200m before stopping.
The lorry driver, a 63-year-old man from the Deepcar area of Sheffield, sustained slight arm injuries.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved at this stage.
