Get ready for well meaning, but disaster prone Western heroine Calamity Jane, who rides into town this week.

Doncaster’s Phoenix theatre Company bring their production of Calamity Jane to Cast on Tuesday for a six day run.

Set in 1876, Calamity Jane tells the story of sharp shooting, tom-boy Callum who promises to bring a Chicago music-hall star to help a local salon proprietor out of a jam and creates havoc along the way.

The aim of Cast is to provide a stage for world renowned artists and productions and local talent alike.

This is definitely the case with the Phoenix Theatre company who will be the first amateur musical company to perform at the venue.

Amanda Alderson, group chairman at the Phoenix Theatre company, said: “‘I and the rest of the cast are really excited to be performing the much loved classic musical Calamity Jane at Doncaster’s new performance venue Cast.

“If you’ve not yet been to see a show at Cast then this is a perfect opportunity and we promise you’ll be singing along!”

This Wild West musical features crowd pleasing songs such as this very popular musical features songs including ‘Deadwood Stage’, Black Hills of Dakota’ and ‘Secret Love’.

Calamity Jane director Damian Bell said the production is shaping up to be a great show.

He said: “This years cast have been working extremely hard in rehearsals to ensure that they put on a great show. If you are coming to see it you will not be disappointed.”

Calamity Jane starts at Cast on Tuesday, November 12 and runs until Saturday November 16.
