War exhibition moves to West Stockwith

The WWI exhibition - Lest We Forget: Misterton and West Stockwith in The Great War - has moved to the unique 1722 St Mary’s Church in the heart of the Trentside village of West Stockwith.

The exhibition is a culmination of a year’s research into the 42 local men (and, unusually, one woman) who died in The Great War in the two villages.

The exhibition runs for a further eight weeks at St Mary’s Church, West Stockwith, every day during October 10am-4pm, Sundays noon-4pm; and All Saints’ Church in Misterton, every day in November 10am-4pm, Sundays noon-4pm.

David Seymour, who has led the research and curated the exhibition, explains: “St Mary’s Church was bequeathed to the village by William Huntington, a local shipbuilder.

“In it are the memorials to those who fell in The Great War while the displays tell their story as well as giving information on West Stockwith before and at the time of WWI.”
