Two British families have been left devastated after separate swimming pool tragedies while on holiday in Europe.
National news outlets reported that a four-year-old girl drowned in the Spanish resort of Marbella on Saturday morning before a five-year-old boy died in a pool at a villa in the Algarve, Portugal, later on the same day.

The girl was on holiday with her parents in the resort when she is said to have got into trouble in the water at about 10.30am.
Emergency services tried to revive her but the youngster died at the scene.

The boy's family were staying at the Amendoeira Golf Resort in the Algarve, Portugal.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at a villa at about 4.30pm and he was pulled from the pool but paramedics were unable to save him.

Investigations are underway and police sources have said both deaths are believed to be accidental.
