Three Sheffield babies couldn’t wait to join the New Year’s party – arriving days early or late for their proud parents.
Elliott Boswell, who weighed 6lbs 7oz when he was born at Sheffield’s Jessop Wing at 4.10am on January 1, had been due on Boxing Day.
Proud mum and dad, Donna and Liam Boswell, were thrilled to celebrate their first born’s arrival and take him home to Parson Cross.
“It feels really exciting to have a New Year’s Day baby”, said Donna, a commercial services team leader.
“It’s definitely been a very different New Year – I do think that he wanted to join the party!”
Another birthday boy was the new son of Cara Humphries and Darren Thomas.
Cara was due to have her third child on January 19, but her 7lb 7oz son was born at 9.37am on January 1.
Cara, aged 28, and of Shiregreen, said: “I’m very happy, I’ve got two girls so this just finishes it off.
“My daughter was early so I said I would have this baby on New Year’s Day – and I did.”
Amy and James Richardson, of Nether Edge, had been expecting daughter Isla on January 16.
But she was born at 5.46am, weighing 5lbs 7oz.
Amy, aged 32, said: “It’s incredibly special to have a New Year’s Day baby, she obviously couldn’t wait to see in New Year.”
Ingrid Pokutova also became a mum to a little girl on New Year’s Day.
