Tributes have been paid to a young dad who died in a road crash near Doncaster railway station yesterday afternoon.

Police have not officially named the man who died in the incident on Trafford Way but he has been named on social media as Daniel Aistrop, 23, a dad of one.

Mr Aistrop died after he was in collision with a black Audi A5 near the junction with West Street, close to the railway station, at around 3.45pm on Easter Sunday.

He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

The road was sealed off for several hours and bus services diverted following the collision.

As news of the tragedy spread, friends took to social media to express their grief.

The Audi driver, a 19-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

South Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash or anyone who may have seen the Audi in the lead up to the collision.
