'Severe' delays and ‘five mile’ tailbacks near Doncaster following crash involving van and lorry

There are severe delays and long queues on the M18 and the Doncaster bypass following an incident involving a van and a lorry.

The crash, which was first reported shortly after 7am today (September 2), took place on the Doncaster bypass at J36 Warmsworth Road between Doncaster and Conisborough.

It has caused one lane to be closed on the northbound side of the bypass A1(M), with traffic queueing for five miles.

There is congestion back to the J35 interchange with the M18, causing traffic to queue on the motorway all the way from the bypass junction to J1 at Bramley.

Delays are reported to be at least 17 minutes, and raffic is moving at an average of 10mph.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible and find an alternative route.

South Yorkshire Police has confirmed that police are still at the scene.

No injuries as a result of the incident have been reported.
