A man with mental health issues took his own life on train tracks by Meadowhall Interchange, an inquest jury has ruled.
Daryl Clarke, aged 29, who was originally from Rotherham, killed himself on February 14 this year.
Mr Clarke had lived in Wathwood Hospital but was allowed unsupervised leave.
He had been on unsupervised leave when the incident happened around 12.20pm.
Officers from British Transport Police, South Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service were called to the station following reports a person had been hit by a train.
Mr Clarke was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.15pm.
A jury returned a verdict of suicide following a hearing at the Medico-Legal Centre in Sheffield.
