Donny’s landlords and musicians have announced a second Mapfest – the two day music festival based in the town centre’s bars and clubs.
And the good news id that this years concerts will all be free!
The fest will take place on the weekend of August 9 and 10, and will feature live bands playing in venues across town including Cask Corner, Vintage, the Masons and Social amongst many others.
Marc Jones, one of the events organisers and manager of Cask Corner on Cleveland St, said: “We’re really looking forward to it. It’s great to see all the pubs in town pulling together to do something for Doncaster. Last year’s event was fantastic – it was such a success I think it surprised all of us.
Ian Bailey, landlord of the Masons in the Marketplace, which last year brought a Caribbean flavour to Mapfest by combining the live music with a celebration of the anniversary of 50 years of Jamaican independence, said: “We can’t wait. Last year was a success way beyond our expectations. It was a thrill to be able to put on a show like that for such a huge crowd.
“Providing a free music festival for the town’s just a fantastic concept, it’s a great way to get people to use the town’s puns – and I’m really glad all the events are going to be free this year.”
