Putting a spring in the step of a nationwide charity are staff at a Doncaster firm.

The town branch of Leeds Building Society is currently supporting the 2014 Marie Curie Cancer Care Great Daffodil Appeal by encouraging customers to take a daffodil for a suggested donation of £1.

Hannah Saxon, Marie Curie Cancer Care Community Fundraiser said: “The Great Daffodil Appeal is our biggest annual fundraising campaign.

“Every donation made in return for a daffodil will help us nurse patients with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes, and provide support for their families free of charge. £20 pays for us to nurse someone with a terminal illness for one hour; £180 pays for one of our nurses to look after someone right through the night in the comfort of their own home.”

Melissa Foulis, Leeds Building Society Doncaster Branch Manager said, “The Great Daffodil Appeal is always very popular with our staff and customers. We are looking forward to welcoming people to the branch, at 8 Frenchgate, Doncaster, DN1 1QQ, to make a donation for a daffodil. We hope to see many people walking around Doncaster proudly wearing a daffodil.”

The building society is based at 8 Frenchgate, Doncaster.
