South Yorkshire League round-up: Wath, Conisbrough, Sprotbrough, Warmsworth

Waths Rob Barlow is in excellent form with the bat.

The Moor Road side piled on the runs, amassing 306-5.

Skipper Rob Barlow produced another exquisite innings, scoring 83.

Shawn Dyson also powered his way to 85 in 57 balls, while Jonathan Plater added 47.

In reply Coal Aston could only muster 139 all out. Laurence Browes top scored with 33.

Jack Whitlam took 3-33 and Jordan Shutt 4-30.

The game at Middlecliffe between Houghton Main and Conisbrough provided an exciting conclusion, with the Doncaster club holding on for an eight-run victory.

Conisbrough batted first and, after losing both openers cheaply, Sri Lankan Arosh Janoda blasted 77 from 44 balls, Nathan Smith contributed 48 and Stuart Coleman supported with 32.

Michael Bates with 3-57 and Callum Honeyman with 3-62 were the best bowlers for the hosts.

In reply Khurram Javed began the chase with 47 before Callum Honeyman (58) and Australian Oli Hayes (38) took Main to 187-5 and within sight of victory.

Hayes’ dismissal was the first of three run outs as the home side ended on 223-9.

Janoda starred again, taking four of the first five wickets to fall for an analysis of 4-56.

Sprotbrough have dropped off the promotion pace in Division One after a 20-run defeat at Norton Woodseats.

James Eyre opened with 78, Shahzad Hussain added 31 and Daniel Turner made 35 in Woodseats’ total of 215-8.

Jake Wigney took 3-38 and Robert Edmundson 3-47.

In reply Sprotbrough’s main challenge came from stumper Tom Kaye who reached 61 in their total of 195 all out.

David Armitage claimed 4-33 and Aamir Ashfaque 3-35.

Sprotbrough, chasing their third successive promotion, are now 13 points adrift of the second promotion spot.

Warmsworth beat Frecheville by 46 runs to stay in contention for promotion from Division Two.

Andrew Haywood (35) and Chris Hadley enjoyed an opening stand of 108 for the Doncaster club.

Hadley batted through the innings for a superb 131 not out, including 18 fours and three sixes, as Warmsworth raised a total of 235-5.

David Ratcliffe took 3-52.

In reply Frecheville scored 189-9. Ratcliffe scored 41 and Todd Saxelby 60.

Liam Marshall bowled well for Warmsworth, claiming figures of 5-57.

Wath B’s promotion hopes suffered a setback following a emphatic defeat at relegation-threatened Elsecar B.

Elsecar B batted first and found runs easy to come by. Joe Denby reached 72, Mark Hope 40, Andrew Ivill 34 and stumper Callum Higgins hit a quickfire 30 in their total of 280 all out.

Shawn Hopkins took 3-74 and Jake Little 3-55.

Wath were all out for 130 in their reply. Shaun Pedler took 3-27 and Joe Denby 3-20.

The defeat left Wath in fifth place, nine points adrift of the promotion places.

However, just six points clear of the relegation zone, they are also looking over their shoulder.
