Rotherham will be rocking next month when a day of 1940s and 1950s music, dance and shopping is staged in the town centre.

Five-piece band Lula & the BeBops are among the musicians set to perform at the event and there will be dance demonstrations and workshops from the Jivesters outside Boots.

There will be vintage clothing, home ware and hand-made crafts on sale at a vintage market along Effingham Street.

Over 30 vintage vehicles will be on display along Church Street, with a 1937 Velocette, a 1953 Austin Somerset, a 1939 Morgan Supersport and vintage buses from the South Yorkshire Transport Museum along those due to line the road.

And for those turning up in clothes from the era there will be prizes for the best dressed.

Councillor Denise Lelliott said: “Over 2,000 people came to last year’s Vintage Hop in November so we hope the summer event will bring even more visitors to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the many events and attractions on offer.”

The event on Saturday, July 11 will run from 10.30am - 3.30pm.
