Robot teaches children in the Isle about recycling

The Recycling Robot is a fun and interesting way to interact with pupils - it sings, lights up and even does a bit of rapping! Pupils from each school will take part in a workshop that aims to inspire children to reduce, reuse and recycle in a fun and exciting way.

It will be visiting Belton All Saints CoE School, St Martin’s Primary School in Owston Ferry and St Norbert’s Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy in Crowle.

Recycler Robot is funded by REPIC, the council’s approved contractor to support the promotion of recycling electrical waste.

Councillor Nigel Sherwood, cabinet member for highways and neighbourhoods, said: “We encourage people to recycle and reuse as much as possible to decrease the amount of recyclable waste that goes to landfill each year. In turn this has a positive effect on the environment.

“Going into schools and educating children and young people is a great way of helping to increase recycling rates in North Lincolnshire. They always seem to take on board what has been said and go home and talk to their parents about it, which educates them about the importance of recycling.

“The Recycler Robot is a fun way for children to learn about recycling and I’m sure it will do a fantastic job of spreading the message about how vital recycling is.”

Small electrical items such as toasters and irons, hairdryers, chargers that have a plug or use batteries can be recycled by placing in a standard supermarket carrier bag and presented alongside your blue and green kerbside boxes. We are unable to take microwaves, TVs and monitors or items too big to fit in a standard supermarket carrier bag. You can also take electrical items along to the Household Recycling Centre.
