PUPPY love has helped battered dog Bonnie back to health.
The terrified little mongrel was a shaking bag of bones when she arrived at the Netherlands Dog Rescue, between Kilnhurst and Rawmarsh.
Then Bonnie met Stan...
As part of her rehabilitation, Netherlands volunteers placed Bonnie (pictured below) with the crossbred fellow inmate.
The two dogs hit it off and with Stan’s help, Bonnie has regained her confidence in both animals and people, said sanctuary spokeswoman Lynne Hopkinson.
Lynne said: “When she came to Netherlands, Bonnie was terrified. She was hunched over, tail between her legs and you could see every rib.
“She had scars on her face and body – a sure sign that she had suffered abuse – and she was clearly mentally scarred.
“She was starving and desperate when she arrived, but with good meals, shelter and nurturing, she is back to being the dog that she should be.”
Bonnie still really needs a permanent loving home. If you can offer Bonnie, or another dog a home, call the sanctuary on 07786 292104.
