HRH, The Princess Royal, visited the Rossington Hall Group RDA in order to officially open their new indoor riding arena.

The arena, funded by Sport England, BT Sport Supporters Club at RDA and Rossington Hall Group RDA, has taken four years to come to fruition and will enable the facility to operate all year round without cancellations due to adverse weather.

Supporters, benefactors, volunteers and riders were also welcomed to the official opening and to meet the Princess Royal who was welcomed into the County by HM Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Mr Andrew Coombe.

Sandra Crabtree of the Rossington Hall Group RDA said of Princess Anne’s visit: “It was a fabulous day. Princess Anne was really lovely. She took the time to talk to everyone properly. She put everyone at ease and made them feel special.”

The Princess Royal’s visit comes just six weeks after thieves broke into the school and stole thousands of pounds worth of equipment. Following the break-in members of the community rallied around the school, and several of those who helped out were invited to the opening as a thank you.

Mrs Crabtree added: “It was a great way to thank our volunteers and supporters who have done so much for us.”
