Want to meet the creatures from your nightmares?

A whole new experience for those who dare to be scared comes to the Dearne this month.

A ghoulish, shrieking journey through a maze of (horrible) discovery is on its way to Goldthorpe - and each intrepid visitor will help to raise vital cash for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

It’s a second visit to the Dearne Playhouse for this particular crew, and this time it’s by invitation.....

Dearne folk do not scare easy, and are all too willing to take up the heinous challenge, the Times was told!

For the first time ever, Scarytales Live will plunge you in a world of sinister characters from the worlds of childhood stories, nursery rhymes and cartoons.

And it is recommended that adults and brave youngsters from 12 years upwards only should face the terror and twisted freaks....for good reason. Wailing people (always adults) have been known to exit theatres soon and fast, said creative director Gary Crompton.

He and his team from GNG Entertainment teamed up with the Playhouse and Barnsley company Pixel One to administer the 20-minute thrill fest, that on this occasion is totally for the Yorkshire charity.

Live actors, special effects, and spectacular sounds and lighting will combine to transport you to the land gone mad, where chaos, rage and fear rule.

From the minute you walk in to a secret wardrobe and plunge in to the dark forest, there is no turning back, we were told. This is a tale with no happy ever afters....

Gary said: “We hope to raise over £5000 for the Yorkshire air Ambulance. This is our designated charity show for the year and is an untested theme.

“Every bit of space in the theatre will be used from the dressing rooms to the stalls”.

To visit Scarytales Live from March 16 to 18, contact the Dearne Playhouse box office on 01709 894128, or buy tickets for £5 on the door from 6.30pm to 11pm but be prepared to queue.
