Police confirm gunshots reported as second Cantley shooting investigated

A Doncaster street was sealed off by police for the second time in a month today, after a house was fired on.

Police had sealed off both ends of Aldesworth Road, Cantley, after emergency services had been called out last night, following the incident which also saw the house catch fire.

Scene of crime officers and fire service officials were at the scene carrying out investgations today (May 19).

It is the same street that was the scene of an alleged shooting, on May 6. Police are linking the incidents.

A police spokesman said: “It is reported shots were fired at the house before it was set alight. A car parked outside the house was also damaged.

“Nobody was inside the property at the time.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 1107 of May 18.”

One of the houses on the street had a section of roof replaced with chipboard. And outside it stood a Range Rover with a shattered windscreen and glass on the ground.

Officers stood at each end the road, guarding the crime scene, which was sealed off with blue and white police tape.

Inside the corden, investigtors stood speaking to one another.

Residents on social media had said they had heard gun shots last night.

One resident told the Free Press this morning said she had seen flames at the site last night, but they did not look the colour of normal flames. She said she thought someone may have thrown something at the house.
