It certainly was a meal fit for a King served up at Doncaster’s historic Mansion House as part of the city status celebrations.

Students from Doncaster College created a luxurious buffet for guests to tuck into – and a few students even had the chance to chat with King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla ahead of a reception with local community groups.

A Doncaster College spokesman said: “They provided delicious food for the event and a few of our students and staff got the opportunity to speak with the King.

However, the Royal couple did take away some Doncaster produce – the King and Queen consort were presented with two jars of locally produced honey – after hearing that the King likes to use the product to sweeten his cup of breakfast tea.
