Volunteers, community groups and organisations who met King Charles during his visit to Doncaster have described it as “an incredible honour.”

Numerous community groups were invited to the reception at the Mansion House following the King and Queen Consort bestowing city status on Doncaster.

The Royal couple spent time chatting to volunteers from various Doncaster organsiations including the National Racing College, Friends of Sandall Park, homeless organsiation Depaul, Doncaster Mind and many more.

Sandra Crabtree of Friends of Sandall Park said: “What an incredible honour to be invited to the Mansion House to meet King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla, representing the Friends of Sandall Park and the community that support us.

“A proud moment for our group, it's supporters, for all the other charities and voluntary groups, and Doncaster as a City.

“The King asked me to pass on his regards and thanks to all the volunteers who make the park so special. Lovely of him to say that.”
