The 64-year-old completed the challenge recently at Wath-upon-Dearne Leisure Centre and was joined by her daughter Deborah Youel and brother Alan Gough for the last two laps.

She said: “It was a precious and emotional family moment.”

Linda, who lives in Little Houghton, near Barnsley, decided to do the fundraiser after she was chosen as one of this years models for Breast Cancer Care’s London Fashion Show.

She took 16 hours and 21 minutes to finish her challenge.

In total, she swam 1,358 lengths of the pool and burned a huge 10,187 calories.

Sponsorship money is still being counted but she has so far raised £500.

She said: “I am so thrilled to have completed my swim, it was hard work but I really enjoyed setting myself the challenge.

“I am hoping I can raise lots of money for Breast Cancer Care.

“It is such a brilliant cause that provides support to anyone, from people worried about a lump to those coping with a breast cancer diagnosis.”

Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003.

She had to have a mastectomy of the right breast and six months of chemotherapy.

Thankfully, the treatment worked and since then Linda has vowed to live life to the full.

She is a fitness fan and enjoys staying healthy, but always finds time to help out at her nearest cancer support service.

Linda fundraises and attends monthly meetings designed to support people in Barnsley who have received a cancer diagnosis.

Now having completed the swim she is looking forward to strutting her stuff on the catwalk.

Tickets are still available for Breast Cancer Care’s London Fashion Show on Wednesday, October 7.

Prices range from £75 to £195 per person.
