Only Men Aloud set for South Yorkshire show

After three acclaimed sell out UK tours, Only Men Aloud are back this December with a 14 date UK Tour which will see them visit Sheffield City Hall again on Friday, December 9, 2011.

Founded by Tim Rhys-Evans back in 2000, the vision was to inject some new blood and create a young male voice choir unafraid to tackle music not usually performed by traditional male voice choirs. As such the group’s repertoire is both varied and eclectic, covering everything from Welsh folksongs and hymns to musicals and opera, from barbershop and swing to pop.

The choir first came to public attention in 2008 when they entered and won BBC 1’s Last Choir Standing and as a result landed a five album, multi million pound record deal. They released their debut album shortly afterwards which went gold in the UK, but it was the boy’s second album Band of Brothers which went straight to number one in the classical music charts. It was the same album that also landed them the Album of the Year Award at last year’s Classical Brits.

The boys are set to release their latest album, In Festive Mood, next week on November 28, in time for Christmas and to coincide with the tour. The Sheffield show will no doubt feature a selection of the new tracks from the Christmas album to well and truly get fans in the seasonal spirit, plus a mixture of favourites from their first two albums.
