Nissan Navara NP 300 now has car-like comforts
NISSAN has changed the world of pick-ups with its all new award winning NP300 Navara that makes it a more user friendly vehicle especially for those owners in particular who now use them for leisure activities rather than load carrying writes Bryan Longworth
For pick-ups have traditionally had leaf spring suspension at the rear to cope with heavy loads in the area behind the cab but this system has provided a rather hard and bouncy ride for the growing band of owners who use these vehicles for leisure purposes and their personal transport.
Now, with the latest Navara Nissan who have 80 years experience in the pick-up business has introduced game changing multi link rear suspension to replace the old fashioned leaf springs to provide a more car-like ride comfort level which will still cope with heavy loads.
The new suspension is used on Double Cab versions of Navara with the King Cab model featuring improved rear leaf spring suspension and the new pick-up introduces an array of new in car technology including around view monitor, forward emergency braking, cruise control, hill descent control and hill start assist.
The Barcelona built new Navara has rugged and sporty exterior styling and the redesigned interior has improved front seating and the dashboard assembly with a sculpted appearance creates increased cabin space and further features include dual zone digital climate control.
Power comes from a new 2.3-litre diesel engine with two power outputs and there is the choice of two or four wheel drive and the option of a standard six speed manual or a seven speed automatic gearbox. New Navara features four trim grades and the load carrying and towing ability across the range is improved with payload ratings now in excess of one tonne and towing capacity of 3,500kg.
In addition customers will be able to tailor their vehicles so that it can meet the requirements of the toughest job or the most demanding of lifestyles from a an extensive set of accessories including a very stylish hard top for over the rear load area plus a foldaway rear step and tailgate lowering device.
The Navara has made a good start following its launch by scooping top honour at the International Pick-up award 2016 in Lyon, France, with judges praising the striking exterior and interior and the new to sector technologies.
And the Navara has just added to its list of accolades by being named the Best Pick-Up in the 2016 Diesel Car Top 50 - a list of the 50 best cars now on sale following more than 200 new cars being tested by the judging panel.
And early reports about the Navara with the new rear suspension are extremely favourable which should make it much easier for Nissan dealers to sell the new vehicle that could well set a new trend among other manufacturers with pick-ups in their range.
