WENTWORTH and Dearne MP John Healey is backing a campaign by Action on Hearing Loss by urging local residents to get their hearing checked. The MP, Labour’s shadow health secretary, lent his support to the charity’s campaign encouraging people to take their hearing check by visiting or calling: 0844 800 3838.

THE next meeting of Wath Community History Group will be at St. Joseph’s Hall on Carr Road on Thursday, July 14. Starting at 7pm, the topic for discussion will be ‘The Census’, which will give an insight into lives of local people from days gone by.

MEMBERS of the public are invited to attend the Wentworth North Area Assembly meeting at Dearne Fire Station, Manvers, on Monday, July 11. It starts at 7pm and will include updates from Rotherham Wardens, the Area Partnership Manager and South Yorkshire Police.

A FAMILY fun day is being held at St John’s Methodist Church in Swinton on Saturday, July 9. Visitors are being asked to arrive at about 10.30am and the fun will continue right through the day until 3pm. There will be a variety of craft stalls, quizzes, games and refreshments will be available.

RESIDENTS are invitied to attend the next Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meeting at Mexborough Resource Centre on Thursday, July 14. It will begin at 6.30pm and is a chance to tell police and council officers about crime in your area.
