A CHARITY sportsman’s dinner in honour of the Mexborough Christmas death crash teenagers has raised £1,745.

Sheffield Wednesday hero David Hirst was among the guest speakers at Pastures Lodge on Thursday night, who helped raise the cash for the families of Lauren Birkett, Robert Tepper, Jonathan Scott.

The trio died in a smash on Adwick Road, just outside Mexborough, on December 27.

A SUMMER fayre takes place at Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School at Broadway, on July 2 from noon-3pm. A highlight will be a performance from The Future and Project X dance troupes from Rotherham’s Nikki Lynam School of Performing Arts. Both are All Midlands Championship team winners.

Attractions will also include traditional games, competitions and stalls. Organised by Swinton Fitzwilliam Parent Council, the fayre will feature a Rotherham United penalty shoot-out and mini go-kart grand prix.

ARSONISTS gutted a car in an early morning blaze in Conisbrough.

Firefighters attended Drake Head Lane at 4am on Sunday where the car was already so damaged, they could not identify its make and model.
