A ground-breaking new £25,000 scheme will help struggling families in Sheffield and Rotherham prepare young children for starting school.
Charity Home-Start Sheffield has been granted funding from the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys for the scheme.
The project is called Parents And Children Together and will involve trained volunteers visiting families to provide parenting advice, practical help and emotional support.
Jack Scott, Manager of Home-Start Sheffield said: “We know that the early years are the most important in a child’s development and that many families in Sheffield and Rotherham struggle to get their children ready for school. So we’re absolutely thrilled to be awarded this grant from the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys, which will make a big difference to hundreds of families and children across Sheffield and Rotherham. Tackling cycles of difficulties and providing support early on in life is the best way of reducing poverty and helping children to achieve their potential.”
