My View, Margaret Herbert: Halloween screening spooktacular

The Rocky Horro Picture Show
The Rocky Horro Picture Show

Doncaster Little Theatre is getting into the spooktacular Halloween spirit with a screening of a classic dark comedy.

Residents can have a wail of a time at the creepy late night Halloween film show tomorrow, Saturday, at 11pm – The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

This is a spooky special late night showing of this classic film with lots of added twists and turns.

Film lovers wanting to sink their fangs into the screening can pick up tickets priced at £10 including a goodie bag.

The venue has a host of shows coming up in the run up to Christmas including Bombshells, written by Joanna Murray Smith and first presented in Melbourne in 2001 and at the Edinburgh Festival in 2004.

It tell the story of how women once went mad suppressing their ambitions or dreams, and now drive themselves mad trying to fulfil them.

Bombshells is an insight into six women trying to bridge the chasm between the wilderness of their inner worlds and the demands of their outer worlds.

This is directed by Simon Carr and is a rare combination of comedy and truth.

Tickets are £10 and £8 and the show is next Thursday, November 5, Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7 at 7.30 nightly.

Then, from November 12 to 14, the Little Theatre presents Holes by Tom Basden and directed by Simon Carr.

Tom Basden has written many of Britain’s best comedies. He has been nominated for a BAFTA three times and has won a Fringe First and an Edinburgh Comedy award.

The play is set on a beach after an aeroplane crash –and that is the only part that sounds and looks like a Lord of the Flies production.

This is a comical insight to survivors of flight BAO43 – an absurd, hilarious and fast-paced, razor sharp Tom Basden play. Warning – strong language is used in this production.

The Little Theatre is situated in King Street, off East Laith Gate, Doncaster.

There is an adjoining car park and special concessionary tickets for parking can be obtained on arrival at the box office. Please note the entrance to the car park has now been moved into Frances Street, the next turning on the left after King Street.

There is also easy access through the car park from Hallgate for those using public transport.

The box office is open daily from 6pm to 8pm – telephone 01302 340422.
