A South Yorkshire mum has become a surrogate for her gay son’s baby in what is thought to be a first in the UK.
Kyle Casson, aged 27, decided to seek a surrogate mother for his baby.
Mrs Casson offered to have the baby – with the blessing of her husband – after plans by Kyle to have the baby by IVF with another woman collapsed.
Mr Casson and his baby boy, eight-month-old Miles, now live in Doncaster.
The case emerged when the High Court ruled Kyle can adopt Miles and become his legal father, despite technically being Miles’ brother.
Mr Casson said: “I understand not everyone will agree with it. I have a son and I am very happy. As long as people can provide a home, and they have the support, I don’t see why anyone should be denied the right to be a parent.”
