ISLE MP Andrew Percy has raised concerns in parliament about residents struggling to cope with rising fuel bills.
Mr Percy said: “Rising fuel costs are having a real impact on people’s budgets and although fuel companies have started to cut prices they are still well above what they were a year or two ago.”
Energy regulator Ofgem is now looking at the activity of companies, to make markets more competitive and transparent. Mr Percy also highlighted the issue of confusing tariffs which hinder customers looking to switch suppliers.
He added: “We also need action to support the most vulnerable which is why the Government will protect two million households via the Warm Homes Discount scheme which provides a £120 rebate on energy bills for those most in needs.
