Around 200 pupils from Mexborough’s secondary and primary schools were involved in the ‘Dance through the Decades!’ show at Mexborough Academy in July.

The show took the audience on a journey through the decades of dance over the last 100 years or so.

Kate Myers, deputy headteacher, said: “I was immensely proud of all the students who contributed in very many different ways both on stage and off stage, to the dance show.

“The atmosphere was electric.”

Parents, staff and pupils were treated to a dance showcase to music right from the 1920s through to boogie hits from the 60s and 70s before dancing away to 80s classics like ‘Footloose’ and then 90s dance hits by Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer.

The show finished with a dance rendition to the modern classic ‘Uptown Funk’.
